Desired Skills and Experience
About the role
You will be responsible for delivering CHU’s liability claims service, this role suits an experienced, strategic claims leader with strong liability expertise, proven leadership, excellent client service, and advanced negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
The position is diverse, and includes the following key elements:
Lead delivery of liability claims services in line with KPIs, SLAs, and GICOP, ensuring a high-quality “Concierge” customer experience.
Manage, coach, and develop team members, including recruitment and conducting six annual “Talk to CHU” development conversations per employee.
Oversee team workflow and all triaged claims, optimising performance through effective planning, prioritisation, and collaboration.
Provide strong leadership and build effective relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
Support strategic initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement within the technical claims function.
Manage first-tier complaints and maintain a reduced portfolio of complex claims, including public liability, legal expenses, and office bearers liability.
The successful applicant will have the following skills and experience:
Previous experience leading or managing teams, with the ability to inspire and adapt leadership styles.
Minimum 5 years’ liability claims experience within an insurer or brokerage environment.
Proven track record in driving change management initiatives and improving team performance.
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a solid understanding of claims operations and service standards.
Extensive experience working with legal professionals and technical experts, supported by a strong legal network.
Highly organised with excellent time management and the ability to build and maintain high-performing, engaged teams.
